White Horse Branch Beer Festival in November
We are delighted to announce that the Branch will be organising a
beer festival in Wantage on Friday and Saturday, the 21st and 22nd of November.
This is not the first Wantage beer festival - readers with long memories
may recall a charity event in the early 1980s - nor the first CAMRA
event - the as-was-then Vale-of-White-Horse-Sub-Branch organised one
in East Challow in the early 90s. But it is certainly the first in a long time.
We are intending to provide 28 cask ales, local and from far away, light
and dark, strong and meek, as well as 6 ciders and 2 perrys. The Festival will
take place in the Masonic Hall, Alfred Road, Wantage, OX12 8AN - left
out of Mill Street, 50 yards from Town Square (see map).
View Larger Map From/to Oxford by the X30/31 (Stagecoach) until the early hours, from/to Didcot by the 32 (Thames Transit) until approximately 6PM. There are less frequent services to Faringdon, Newbury and Swindon.
If you are a CAMRA member and would like to help at the festival
(or in setting it up/dismantling it), please fill in our
staffing form and email it back
to us. Those working should read the
staff briefing and
volunteers' health and safety
notes before they start.
Disclaimer: availability of any particular beer during the course of the
festival is at the discretion of the bar manager - we will only serve beer
when and if we think it is fit to be served.
We hope to demonstrate the quality of our local breweries as well as
expose you to beers not so easily found in this area ... and a few
old favourites. The following beers will (almost certainly) be available.
